The PNS and SCS Freedom\u00ae systems use high-frequency electromagnetic coupling (HF-EMC) technology to power the implanted neurostimulator(s). Each neurostimulator includes an electrode array with 4 or 8 contacts, and the electrode array is connected to a separate implanted receiver. An external rechargeable transmitter supplies power and data to the implanted neurostimulator through the skin. The devices use pulsed electric current to create an electric field that acts on nerves to inhibit the transmission of pain signals to the brain.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

System Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Freedom\u00ae Peripheral Nerve Stimulator (PNS) and Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) systems consist of a battery-free implantable stimulator that relieves pain by sending electrical stimulation to a specific nerve to block pain signals from reaching the brain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Treatment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The PNS System <\/strong>treats intractable pain by acting on individual peripheral nerves below the head*, offering a lasting approach to relieving chronic pain. The system covers most major areas of chronic pain, including at the shoulder, arm, back, knee, foot and ankle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    *This PNS System is not intended for the treatment of pain in the craniofacial region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The SCS System <\/strong>is used to treat chronic intractable pain associated with the back and legs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
